LiveAI: Show
Characters How to Behave
LiveAI can be used to create revolutionary new genres of computer games. But at its core, it is simple to understand what LiveAI does. LiveAI learns the actions, detailed movements and precise timing of a game player by watching how they play. It does this by observing how you react to different game world contexts and building a statistical model of your behavior. We refer to this model as a brain because it is a copy of your brain as you were playing.
After a few minutes of training, you can switch to autopilot, put down the controller and watch a game character play just like you would if you were still holding the controller. LiveAI will amaze you at how it intelligently does the right thing even in new game situations that you never saw when you were playing! Things get even more interesting in instant mode. Here we take advantage of the fact that LiveAI brains are simultaneously read/write.
You can carry on training while that same brain which is being trained is simultaneously using what it has already learned to control other AI characters. The feedback is immediate so new training is instantly reflected in the behavior of LiveAI-enabled characters. A previous version of LiveAI, called LiveCombat, generated a lot of interest from game developers. It was used both by AiLive and 3rd parties to demonstrate innovative new game-play experiences. For inspiration on how to unlock the creative potential of LiveAI in your next game, check back soon to see how AiLive's new creative director, Rob Kay, puts the technology to work. Rob is an acclaimed game designer who was formerly Lead Designer of Harmonix Music Systems' award-winning, multi-million selling hits Guitar Hero (TM) and Rock Band (TM). For more information, read the recent Gamasutra interview in which Rob Kay talks about LiveAI. |
